Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
