We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
