The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 by the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 The people of the fuelled blazing fire. 5 while they sat around it, 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong! 12 Verily He! He it is who beginneth and repeateth it. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 – the Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 Doer (without let) of all that He intends. 16 Has there reached you the story of the soldiers - 17 Of Firon and Samood? 18 In fact the disbelievers are in denial. 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, 21 (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved! 22
