And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
