Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth). 2 surely We sent it down on a blessed night, We have always sent warnings, 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you are certain (of your faith). 7 La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. 8 Rather they are in doubt, playing. 9 Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 Covering the people; this is a painful torment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, 13 Whereas they had then turned away from him and said, “He is a madman, tutored!”? 14 If We remove the torment a little, you revert back (to misdeeds). 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ And assuredly afore them We proved Fir'awn's people, and there came unto them an apostle honoured. 17 "Send the servants of God with me. I am a trustworthy Messenger sent to you. 18 And saying exalt not yourselves against Allah; verily I have come unto you with an authority manifest. 19 "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. 20 But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." 21 Then he called to his Lord: "These are a sinful people." 22 So depart thou with My bondmen by night; verily ye shall be pursued. 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many gardens did they leave behind, and how many fountains 25 And corn-fields and noble buildings, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29
