The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
