The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
