The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And spreading shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those of the right hand. 38
