Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty Garden 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
