The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 purify your garments; 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
