The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
