Samood rejected the warning. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
