The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
