He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
