The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
