Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
