The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 "And weigh with scales true and upright. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
