۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
