The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
