The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
