And remember Our servant Ayyub, when he called upon his Lord: The Shaitan has afflicted me with toil and torment. 41 We said to him, “Strike the earth with your foot; this cool spring is for bathing and drinking.” (A spring gushed forth when he struck the earth – this was a miracle.) 42 And We granted to him his family and also the like of them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to people of understanding, 43 [And finally We told him:] "Now take in thy hand a small bunch of grass, and strike therewith, and thou wilt not break thine oath!" for, verily, We found him full of patience in adversity: how excellent a servant [of Ours,] who, behold, would always turn unto Us! 44 (Muhammad), recall Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all of whom possessed virtuous hands and clear visions. 45 Indeed, We chose them for an exclusive quality: remembrance of the home [of the Hereafter]. 46 And behold, in Our sight they were indeed among the elect, the truly good! 47 And commemorate Isma'il, Elisha, and Zul-Kifl: Each of them was of the Company of the Good. 48 This is an advice; and indeed for the pious is an excellent abode. 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are open to them, 50 Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, 51 ۞ and with them maidens restraining their glances of equal age. 52 Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account! 53 this is Our provision, unto which there is no end.' 54 All this [for the righteous]: but, verily, the most evil of all goals awaits those who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right: 55 hell will they have to endure - and how vile a resting-place! 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 and other such torments. 58 [And they will say to one another: "Do you see] this crowd of people rushing headlong to join you?" "No welcome to them! Indeed, they are headed for the fire!" 59 (The followers shall cry to the misleaders:) "Nay, ye (too)! No welcome for you! It is ye who have brought this upon us! Now evil is (this) place to stay in!" 60 They will say: our Lord! whosever hath brought this upon us, unto him increase doubly the torment of the Fire. 61 And they will say: 'Why do we not see the men that we counted as being among the wicked in here? 62 Did we laugh at them (for nothing), or our eyes fail to pick them out?" 63 Indeed, that is truth - the quarreling of the people of the Fire. 64
