The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
