Al-Hijjr 2 of 6
We have placed the signs of the Zodiac in the sky, and decked it out for those who can see; 16 And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah] 17 excepting such as listens by stealth -- and he is pursued by a manifest flame. 18 And the earth-- We have spread it forth and made in it firm mountains and caused to grow in it of every suitable thing. 19 And We have provided therein means of subsistence,- for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible. 20 And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure. 21 And We let loose the winds to fertilize [plants] and We send down water from the skies and let you drink thereof: and it is not you who dispose of its source 22 It is We who give life and We who give death, and We are the One who will abide. 23 And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards. 24 Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
