The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
