The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
