The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
