The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
