Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the luminious Book. 2 We have sent it down in a blessed night (We are ever warning) 3 on that night every wise decree is specified 4 A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles), 5 A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 7 La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. 8 In fact, the unbelievers have doubts because of excessive involvement in worldly affairs. 9 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. 10 Covering the people, this is a painful torment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them, 13 And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman? 14 We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). 15 The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them. 16 ۞ We had tried the people of Pharaoh before them. A respected prophet had come to them (saying): 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 And saying, “And do not rebel against Allah; I have brought a clear proof to you.” 19 And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death. 20 But if you do not believe what I say, leave me alone (and desist from laying hands on me).” 21 (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." 22 And [God said]: "Go thou forth with My servants by night, for you will surely be pursued; 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 and sown fields and splendid mansions, 26 and pleasant things in which they delighted! 27 That is what We did; and We made another nation their heirs. 28 So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited. 29
