The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
