The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
