Mary (Maryam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 Commemorate the beneficence of your Lord on Zachariah, His devotee, 2 When he called to his Lord inwardly, 3 Saying: "My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord! 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 who will be my heir as well as an heir [to the dignity] of the House of Jacob; and make him, O my Sustainer, well-pleasing to Thee!" 6 We answered his prayers with the glad news of the birth of a son by the name of John and told him, "We have never given such a name to anyone else." 7 He said, "Lord, how can I have a son? My wife is barren and I have reached an extremely old age". 8 He said: "So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!" 9 He (Zachariah) said: 'Lord, make for me a sign' He replied: 'Your sign is that you shall not speak to people for three nights being without fault' 10 So he came from the chamber to his people, and suggested to them (by signs) to sing the praises of the Lord morning and evening. 11 (To his son came the command): "O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might": and We gave him Wisdom even as a youth, 12 And tenderness from Our presence and purity, and he was God-fearing. 13 and dutiful towards his parents and was not haughty or disobedient. 14 Peace be on him on the day of his birth, and on the day of his death, and peace will be on him on the day he is raised up to life again. 15
