Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
