NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
