The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and so am I: 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
