[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
