The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
