The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
