And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose; this is what the disbelievers assume; therefore ruin is for the disbelievers, by the fire. 27 Shall We make those who believe and do good deeds equal to those who spread turmoil in the earth? Or shall We equate the pious with the disobedient? 28 [All this have We expounded in this] blessed divine writ which We have revealed unto thee, [O Muhammad,] so that men may ponder over its messages, and that those who are endowed with insight may take them to heart. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 When in the evening were presented to him the standing steeds, 31 He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said): 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 We tested Solomon by (causing death to his son) and leaving his body on Solomon's chair. Then he turned to Us in repentance, 34 He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure). 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 As also others bound together in fetters. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return (Paradise). 40
