By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to humans, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the guilty ones: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
