Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
