'Aad denied the messengers 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
