The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
