The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
