Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
