The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Byzantines have been defeated 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 in a few years. All power belongs to Allah both before and after. On that day will the believers rejoice 4 He helps whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 5 (It is) a Promise of Allah (i.e. Allah will give victory to the Romans against the Persians), and Allah fails not in His Promise, but most of men know not. 6 People simply know the outward aspect of the worldly life but are utterly heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Evil was the end of those evil-doers, for they gave the lie to Allah's Signs and scoffed at them. 10
