۞ And when the son of Maryam is held up, an example, behold! thy people thereat cry out. 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He is only a servant We blessed, and We made him to be an example to the Children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 AND, BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a means to know [that] the Last Hour [is bound to come]; hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this [alone] is a straight way. 61 And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. 62 When Jesus came with clear proof (in support of his truthfulness), he said, "I have come to you with wisdom to clarify for you some of the matters in which you have disputes. Have fear of God and obey me. 63 "Verily, Allah! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allah's religion of true Islamic Monotheism)." 64 But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day. 65 Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? 66 On that Day close friends shall become enemies of each other, except those who fear (Allah). 67
