Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
