The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
