The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
