The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
